Just one beggar telling another beggar where we found The Bread.
Just one beggar telling another beggar where we found The Bread.
Our Daily Bread ran by Sister Robin Reece; consists of preparing lunches for approximately 250 people Monday through Friday of each week. Many lunches are delivered to the homes of people who can’t come by for various reasons, ie. the elderly, sick, bedridden, no vehicle, etc.
Daily Bread Ministry is one of the deepest chambers in the heart of the Ark. Pastor Janice's vision from the founding of this Church was to see the hungry fed. Many times she has referenced the scriptures in Matthew 25 that state "For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you visited me" and through those scriptures, the Ark was on a mission to provide meals to the hungry and those shut in.
The first food to ever go out to the city were loaves of bread taken out by just a couple of the faithful members and from there, our feeding ministry has grown to feeding hundreds a day: both in our facility and within the city. Warm meals are prepared daily in our kitchen by willful volunteers in the church and food boxes are sent out weekly from our pantry by faithful workers who share in the desire to see the hungry in our community fed both naturally and spiritually.
The house located directly beside of the church is better known as the "Mercy House". Since reaching the harvest of this city was the main vision in birthing the Ark, the blueprints for this house conveintly located on the church property, was a given!! it would be a house of Mercy for those needing it the most. This building quickly became known as the church's rehabilitation center and has since then, served it's purpose as just that for many years.
To everything, there is a time and a season. As seasons change here at the Ark of Mercy; we move forward with the leading of The Holy Spirit. In this particular season, our rehabilitation center has transitioned into our new "Sober Living Home" for those needing time and help getting their lives back on track after braving the world of recovery! We have the understanding that recovery is a process and in doing so, sometimes those leaving rehab aren't fully ready to re-enter the previous world that led them to the potential destruction they just came out of. This house will serve as a steady in between stage where the residents will be overseen by Godly leadership in a safe and clean, sober-friendly environment, and a word and worship filled atmosphere.
Saving lives and souls goes much deeper than the initial first response. Because we know this, it is our desire, to not only see them get saved but to teach them how to stay saved. We are confident this house is one big step in the right direction for doing so. Every addict has a story and each story will tell you why the are worthy of recovering and in the midst of these stories, you will so often find the purpose of God given to each soul that deserves this chance at a life truly worth living... here in the Mercy House of sober living.
